How I tackle the end of the poverty

The way I tackle the end of the poverty is improving literacy rate. I want to make the world be better place through improving literacy rate, and I am planning at work for a part of the UNESCO; JAPAN UNESCO association. There are some necessities for my job. First, to learn about ethnic culture and history is necessary while I am a student because they would be my basic structures. In particular, it is important to study about cultural anthropology and, also to have some experience of fieldwork. Second, to learn languages is helpful to communicate with local people. Though it is good to communicate with people through interpreter, to communicate with my own words is more important for relationship. Because communicating with local words face to face helps built more friendly and reliable relationship with local people. Finally, to learn economics is also important, because to analyze economic of status of any area and its people is needed to advise them to be independent. These three which I mentioned are parts of the most important knowledge for my future job.

My definition of Amae

Above all things, the concept of Amae referred by Takeo Doi is very broad however, I do not mean that Amae include different definitions but primary definition is firm and the others derive from that firm idea. Therefore, the important thing is an understanding of the firm idea of Amae. Amae is the communication depending on one’s tacit understanding. In other words, Japanese people trust his ability that someone to talk to understand own implication each other. For instance, at the Japanese department store, when one said to clerk “This is the present for my father’s birthday,” clerk answered “OK, which kinds of wrapping paper do you choose?” In this case, he did not say “Please wrap this present,” notwithstanding clerk supposed he will hope to do so, and he also thinks clerk act is natural. This is, so to speak, tacit understanding. It may be said that this idea is, in a sense, like a phrase “…,If you know what I mean” indeed one said this phrase hope to understand one’s implication, but I emphasize these are different as chalk and cheese. The reason is that the user of that phrase accepts logical lack of own words however, Japanese people do not have that consciousness, because they trust someone to talk to understand own implication.

Can you listen to my story about "Amae"??

Why Japanese do “Amae” is to confirm the relationship between self and the other. Japanese instinctively think to use “Amae” prove that the relationship between self and the other is good, because “Amae” is never work out with the person who can’t be trusted. Then why do Japanese need to confirm the relationship? In my opinion, Japanese fear that distance between self and the others expands. Fear makes Japanese feel anxiety, and anxiety creates impatience. Therefore Japanese confirm the relationships to deal with the impatience by doing “Amae”.
I hope you get super happy GW.

May I speak about "Future"?

I think the technology will develop in the future, because the technology has been developing dramatically from industrial revolution. New technology makes other new technology. For example, PC was invented, after that Internet was created. Though creating and introducing new technology sometimes causes bad things at the same time, for instance, use of fossil fuel cause environmental problems, human beings clear up the affair that they are confronting with a newest technology.

Now scream like Tarzan!!

it's Takahashi Yu for short Mr.Tak.

I'm a Man.
I fear no one.

I'm straight from Japan
I look deadpan.
But I like fun.
I never ever be deadman.

I sometimes bomb ya eardrum!!

Peace.

Takeo Doi, 'The anatomy of dependence'

Takeo Doi develops an explanation of Japanese behaviour based on the idea of amae. This week, write a paragraph on your reading of Doi and the idea of amae. Reflect on your own experience and write a paragraph on one of the followin:
(1) define amae as you understand it. Use an example from your own life.
(2) consider the importance of amae. Does it explain Japanese behaviour?
(3) consider that Toi's ideas about amae began during the 1950s and the 'The anatomy of dependence' was first published in the 1960s. How relevant are the ideas to your generation. Has Japanese behaviour changed since the 1960s. If so, why and how?

Write one paragraph. Use a pattern of organisation. Quote from the handout, other sources and feel free to discuss examples from your own experience.

Remember: brainstorm, plan, write.

Essay Topics

Once your group has deduced the differences between an essay and a research paper, you should have a better idea of how you need to approach your essay topic.

To get started on choosing and refining your topic, consider the following points:
1) Think about your interests.

What topics do you already know something about and have an opinion on?
What issues in your field have you debated with others but been able to fully explain or develop?
What issues do you think people misunderstand?
What issue do you have a particular and strongly held view on?

2)Remember you are writing an essay, so it is a reasonably short response to a topic, arguing your particular viewpoint. Make the topic MANAGEABLE in the space provided (2000 words).

3) Two approaches:

i) Question your topic. Try to find out ways to approach your topic by asking yourself questions about it.

How does your topic fit into a larger story or system?

What is the nature of your topic: how has it changed over time? Is it important now? Why?

Do I have a unique and interesting perspective on the topic that I can contribute to a more general discussion?

ii)Build on your research into the topic through AGREEMENT or DISAGREEMENT.

Agreement:
a) Ask questions about the source information that might help extend it or deepen it.
b) Apply persuasive arguments from one topic to a related topic.

Disagreement:
Ask questions that disagree with a source. Respond to your research material on your topic critically, disagree with your source and see if you can develop a well-supported and logical counter-argument.

Once you have brainstormed around your topic, started questioning it and feel like you have a good idea of what you want to work on. Try to write it into the following formula from the University of Chicago research guide:

1. Topic: I am studying ______
2. Question: because I want to find out what/why/how ______
3.Significance: in order to help my reader understand ______

example

1. Topic: I am studying how views on Reconciliation in Australia differ
2. Question: because I want to find out what divides indigenous Australians and
non-indigenous Australians
3. Significance: in order to help my reader understand what reconciliation
means to both groups and how it might be achieved through
finding views that are in common between them.

1. Topic: I am studying different ideas of Tokyo from Japanese and non-Japanese
writers
2. Question: because I want to find out how culture influences individual
perception of Tokyo
3. Significance: in order to help my reader understand that when we perceive
something (for example a concrete reality such as Tokyo) our
perception and so understanding are shaped by various forces
such as our interests, experiences, knowledge base, and that
the culture we come from is perhaps one of the strongest of these forces.
